Android O release date

The Android O release date may finally have been confirmed thanks to a new online leak.

Google’s next major release of Android – codenamed Android O – may be nearing launch, at least according to a new leak. Google first released a developer preview for the software back in March 2017, but a date for the general public release has remained a mystery – until now.

With four developer previews now behind us, it seems the final consumer version of Android O could be available as soon as August 21. That’s according to prolific leaker and Venture Beat journalist Evan Blass, who posted the information to Twitter.

Check it out:

The new version of Android will be available on Google’s own devices initially, including last year’s  Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL, as well as the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, and Google Pixel C.

Android O will introduce a number of welcome changes to Google’s mobile operating system, including the addition of a picture-in-picture video-viewing mode, notification channels, better keyboard navigation, and a wider colour gamut in imaging apps.
