Today, Google announced quite a bit of innovation at its event in India. While Android Go , a slimmed down version of Android8.0 Oreo took center stage, it also touted that its Google Assistant new feature phones would be arriving .
The Google Assistant new first phone to arrive with the Assistant will be the JioPhone, a handset that offers 4G and runs KaiOS. As far as other specifications go, the handset offers a 2.4-inch color display, 2,000mAh battery, 3.5mm headphone jack, and support for an SD card slot. While it might look basic, the phone does actually provide quite a bit of features in a small package, even offering support for downloadable content like apps and a web browser.
As mentioned before, the handset will offer support for Google Assistant new, which will be a customized version for the JioPhone. While the look might be different, the core functionality of the Assistant should remain the same as what you experience on a supported Android device. It is unknown at this time whether other feature phones will get the Assistant.
